Five Days Down…

I wanted to write each day…but I actually found myself without much free time, so here I am…on Saturday morning after my first week of training!  It was an inspiring week, in fact.  I had the pleasure of meeting, via Web, twelve people from around the country who are full of passion for their work in education.  It brought me so much joy and hope to hear their stories and backgrounds.

And even though I missed my sons’ Field Day yesterday (sad face), we all got thru it, and I truly believe we are better for it.  A small piece of me thought I could swing both activities–my Webinar and the three-legged race–but that moment was brief.  I have a new responsibility now, and it is not simply to myself and my family.  It is also to my new team, the company who took a leap of faith in hiring me, and all of the students they enrich.  I have been blessed to see every scraped elbow and hear every giggle since they were born.  We are very fortunate.

And now, we will appreciate one another in a new way.  I’ll get to experience the “MOM!” hug at the end of a day of work.  They’ll tell me I look pretty in my work dress and heels.  I can text and call them to remind them how much I love them and to hear about their days in first grade.  And maybe, one day, they’ll even tuck a love note into my lunchbox 🙂

The time is right for this, and I enjoyed every moment of my first week back at work.  I am anxious to meet my fellow trainees, in-person, during our on-site training next week!

And although I will not be there the moment my boys leave Kindergarten this year (small sob), their Dad will be, which is a wonderful experience for them to share together…sans Mom.

PS A side note:  an AWESOME part of going back to work is the small celebration you can enjoy each Friday evening if you are so inclined!  Last night was Corona-Ritas (um, hello?!  have one TODAY!) with a dear friend at a hightop overlooking the Atlantic.  Just one hour of serene, South-of-the-Border, girl talk bliss…perfectamundo!   I wouldn’t want to do this on my own…I’m glad we are getting it done together.
